  February 1, 2012

Belton School and Community Partners:

In Belton each year we look to recognize special teachers, librarians, counselors, and support staff members. If you have been in one of our buildings or attended a district event you have witnessed the fact we have several talented and caring individuals.

In an effort to recognize these individuals we are seeking nominations for Teacher of the Year/Support Staff Person of the Year to say “thank you” for an extra special effort and highlight their above and beyond caring attitude and actions.

Teacher of the Year nominations should identify a classroom teacher, librarian, or counselor, who participates in professional growth activities, is involved in school at a level above and beyond the norm, involved in community affairs and shows an active concern for the welfare of Belton Students.

There is a separate honor to highlight a support staff person who strives to show outstanding support of our teachers and schools in a variety of ways. These individuals would include: secretaries, maintenance workers, custodians, paraprofessionals, and/or technology assistants.

Whether you are a student, teacher, parent, or patron of the district you may nominate an individual who you feel deserves special recognition this year. Even though only one person in each building will be selected, your nominations will help a teacher or support staff person realize how special he or she really is.

First year teachers and support staff members and Teacher of the Year and Support Staff Person of the Year recipients from the past three (3) years, however, are ineligible for this award.

Nominations will be accepted through March 1, 2012 and can be returned to any building principal, to the Belton School District Central Office, 110 W. Walnut, Belton, MO 64012 - 816-348-1000, or submitted through the Belton School District website, www.beltonschools.org.

Sincerely in Education,

Andrew S. Underwood
